Custom-fit sleep support
Pillowise — a pillow that measures up
A one-size-fits-all pillow makes as much sense as a shoe store selling one shoe size. Three measurements, an algorithm developed by a physiotherapist in 2003, and one of six colour-coded sizes that holds the cervical spine aligned all night.

Overview
Sleep is eight hours of unsupervised positioning
You can mobilise, release and re-educate a neck in a thirty-minute consultation, and then the patient goes home and spends eight hours holding that same neck at end range on a pillow that never fitted them. Pillowise closes that gap. The pillow is selected from measured body dimensions rather than from how it feels in a shop.
The revolution started in 2003, when Dutch physiotherapist and Pillowise co-founder Thijs van der Hilst built an algorithm from three simple measurements to determine the best-fitting pillow for each of his clients. The pillows quickly helped relieve — and prevent — neck pain. The algorithm has been refined ever since, and more than 5,000 healthcare professionals worldwide now recommend Pillowise, with over one million people fitted.
Developed by physical therapists
Invented in 2003 by Dutch physiotherapist Thijs van der Hilst, who built an algorithm that turns three simple measurements into a correctly sized pillow.
Aligns the cervical spine
A pillow that is too high or too low leaves the neck loaded all night. A pillow in the patient's size holds cervical alignment in side and back lying.
Premium Dutch memory foam
100% premium pressure-relieving memory foam core with a moisture-regulating Tencel cover. Manufactured in the Netherlands, Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 materials.
A retail line that fits allied health
Fitting is a clinical act — measure, size, demonstrate. It sits naturally inside a neck-pain, headache or postural consultation.

The fitting
Three measurements, one size
Take the measurements by hand with the Pillowise tape measure, or use the PillowScan smartphone scan. Sleep position and mattress firmness refine the result.

Step 01
Shoulder width
Distance between the shoulders, measured over the curve of the back — do not pull the tape tight. Range 27–65 cm.

Step 02
Neck circumference
A full circumference measurement around the neck. Range 25–50 cm.

Step 03
Neck height
From the bottom of the ear to the tip of the shoulder. Range 8–28 cm.

Step 04
Sleep position & mattress
Preferred position (side, back or stomach) and mattress firmness (soft, medium or firm) refine the final size.
The range
Six colour-coded sizes
Each colour is a distinct height and contour profile. The algorithm nominates the size — the descriptions below are a guide to who typically lands where, not a substitute for measurement.

Pink
Lowest profile
Narrow shoulders, short neck height — often smaller-framed adults.

Orange
Low profile
Slim build with a shorter neck-to-shoulder distance.

Green
Low–medium profile
Average frame, mixed back and side sleeping.

Blue
Medium profile
Average to broader shoulders, predominantly side sleeping.

Red
Medium–high profile
Broad shoulders or a softer mattress that lets the shoulder sink.

Purple
Highest profile
Broadest shoulders with the greatest neck height.

The six-pillow display does the selling
Roughly 58 × 41 × 160 cm. Patients understand the concept the moment they see all six sizes together — and once they have tried their measured size against the one next to it, the difference is self-evident. Minimal or no stock holding is required; orders can be drop-shipped directly to the patient.

Pillow ToGo
The compact travel version, 34 × 35 cm, in all six sizes with a carry bag — the same support away from home.

Pillowise Junior
Perfect support, healthy growth
Pillowise Junior is the first ergonomic children's pillow sized to the child rather than to an age bracket. The algorithm uses four data points, and the support targets the cervical curve that is loaded by extended phone and tablet use — 'tech neck'.
Suits children 4 to 15 years old
- 100% non-toxic and hypo-allergenic
- Machine-washable cover
- Breathable materials

Junior 1
Small neck support. Equal support on all four sides.
Junior 2

Junior 3
Higher neck support. Support on two sides.

For Australian clinics
A fitting service, not a shelf product
Pillowise sits inside the consultation. You measure, the algorithm sizes, the patient tries it on the display and leaves with something matched to their body. Supplied and supported in Australia by RehaCare from Dural, NSW, with business-hours local support, fitting training and drop-shipping to your patients.
Physiotherapy
Close the loop on cervicogenic headache and neck-pain programs — the eight hours after the session are usually where progress is lost.
Chiropractic
Supports adjustment retention between visits by removing an end-range sleeping position the patient holds all night.
Osteopathy & myotherapy
A concrete, measurable take-home after hands-on treatment, with a fitting that takes a few minutes.
Sports & recovery
Sleep quality is a recovery variable. Athletes with broad shoulders are the group most poorly served by a standard pillow.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How long does a fitting take?
A few minutes. Three tape-measure readings plus sleep position and mattress firmness, entered into the Pillowise algorithm or the PillowScan smartphone scan at scan.pillowise.com.
Do we need to carry stock?
Minimal or none. The six-pillow display lets patients try their size and feel the difference against a neighbouring size, and orders can be drop-shipped directly to the patient.
What does the display look like?
A complete six-pillow display of roughly 58 × 41 × 160 cm. Patients grasp the concept immediately when they can see all six sizes side by side.
Is there an adjustment period?
Most people adapt within one to two weeks. Advise patients to persist through the first nights while the neck adjusts to being supported in a new position.
What about stomach sleepers?
Sleeping position is part of the algorithm, so stomach sleepers receive a lower profile than they otherwise would. Side and back lying remain preferable for the cervical spine.
How is it supplied in Australia?
