What is high dose PRP?
PRP prepared to deliver a clinically meaningful platelet quantity, typically at or above the 10 billion platelet mark that recent peer reviewed literature associates with more consistent outcomes. Single spin and low volume systems often land at only 1 to 3 billion platelets per dose. High dose systems use validated dual spin protocols and optimised collection geometry to recover and concentrate platelets up to 30 times over baseline whole blood.
What is the 10 billion platelet benchmark?
It's the threshold above which PRP studies start showing consistent improvement in pain and function scores. Doses below roughly 5.5 billion platelets have produced inconsistent results across the published literature, while doses meeting or exceeding 10 billion have shown sustained outcomes at one year follow up.
What's the difference between leukocyte poor and leukocyte rich PRP?
Composition. Leukocyte poor PRP minimises white blood cells, particularly granulocytes, so leukocyte content usually sits below baseline whole blood levels. Leukocyte rich PRP keeps a higher concentration, generally several times above baseline. Which one you want is a clinical decision. KeyPRP produces either from a single closed system.
How does double spin compare to single spin?
Double spin yields meaningfully higher platelet concentrations. Single spin is faster but typically delivers 2 to 5 times over baseline. The AABB aligned dual spin process in KeyPRP recovers more platelets and allows volume reduction down to 1.5 cc, reaching up to 30 times over baseline. The trade off is a slightly longer preparation step.
